This unit assists managers to strategically manage information. Emphasis is placed on learning from various organisations and teams that effectively manage knowledge and information so students can enhance current practices and develop successful information governance techniques.

Learning Outcomes

  • Distinguish between information management and knowledge management
  • Identify and assess the characteristics and the role of information management

  • Understand and apply relevant models of information analysis, and make recommendations based on the evaluation
  • Understand the requirements of information governance, select and apply policies and strategies
  • Develop business information reporting strategies
  • Analyse Information Management functions and accountabilities

Assessment

A combination of class participation, projects and reports. 

Written assessment tasks are based primarily on the student's organisational context and experience. Assessment is at postgraduate level and requires academic referencing and evidence of having read and synthesised the literature.   

Relationship to Qualification

Students who successfully complete this program and accompanying assessments will be granted credit towards the Graduate Certificate Professional Management or Graduate Diploma Management Innovation.
