Contemporary Leadership
Contemporary Leadership is designed for managers and leaders who want to become self aware and highly effective leaders in today's environment. Students will be presented with theories, case studies and skills to increase self awareness and personal mastery.

Middle or senior managers who have either an undergraduate degree or significant managerial experience and want to take their skills to the next level.

Learning Outcomes
- Understand the nature and importance of leadership
- Describe and analyse traits, characteristics and behaviours of leaders
- Describe and apply theoretical frameworks to understand leadership
- Analyse leadership in terms of the dynamic interaction between the leader, group members and the internal and external environment
- Understand and deploy a range of influence strategies
- Investigate the role of the leader in influencing the effectiveness of teams
- Understand the nature of strategic leadership and the link between strategic leadership and change
- Understand and analyse leadership in global and culturally diverse contexts
- Understand and analyse leadership and development of individuals of different generations and genders
- Explore, analyse and develop systems and plans for leadership development with particular emphasis on self management and personal mastery
Assessment
Assessment includes a combination of class participation, presentations and reports.
Written assessment tasks are based primarily on the student's organisational context and experience. Assessment is at postgraduate level and requires academic referencing and evidence of having read and synthesised the literature.
Relationship to Qualification
Students who successfully complete this program and accompanying assessments will be granted credit towards the Graduate Diploma Management Innovation.
